Hold On
Even if you didn’t live a song, you can still write it. At least that’s what I thought when I wrote “Hold On”. When this album was being recorded I was on the emotional “high” of my life! I remember the day I walked out of the recording session in Los Angeles. We drove down Santa Monica boulevard with the convertible top down, palm trees swaying in the wind. When I got to the hotel, I received a message saying “call home - urgent”. Routine medical tests had uncovered the fact that Bruce Bright had cancer.
Suddenly the words to my songs became a challenge to me. Could I live out the lyrics, or were they just words? After months of chemotherapy and ultimately a stem cell transplant ( against 80-20 odds) with God’s help I survived non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. And these songs mean much more to me now than the day they were written.
